I like ’em big. I like ’em chunky. I’m talking about PC gaming monitors, why, what did you think I meant? If your proclivities also extend to the ultrawide, you’ll want to check out this MSI deal. You can get a 49-inch ultrawide OLED, normally $1,200, for just $899.99 on Amazon. That’s a long way from cheap, but it’s a heck of a deal.

The MPG 491CQPX is a full-fat model in more ways than one. With 240Hz of refresh it’s lightning-fast, especially for a big panel with 5120×1440 resolution (essentially two 27-inch monitors crammed into one big, curved display). It also has USB-C video input with up to 98 watts of power delivery, so even a thirsty gaming laptop can use it as a display with a single cable. You get a couple of USB-A ports for extra gadgets, plus DisplayPort and double HDMI 2.1 for wide compatibility.

Other features include a built-in VM switch for managing multiple devices, console mode if you want to plug in a PlayStation or Switch, and a hardware crosshair that changes color to maintain contrast. It also has a VESA mount, but you might need a reinforced monitor arm if you want to mount it. The monitor comes with a bunch of extra tech to protect its OLED panel from burn-in. And if that’s not enough, MSI offers a three year burn-in warranty.

This is a fantastic price if you’re looking for a big showpiece monitor that can handle media and games with equal aplomb. I’m not sure how long the discount will stick around — Amazon is showing it as a regular discount. But if this one doesn’t do it for you, be sure to check out PCWorld’s roundup of the best monitors.
